Pacing

By Sarah Anne

I''ve noticed this in a lot of younger players posts and such...and I just want to say my two cents on things. You can take this under consideration or you can just forget about it and ignore it. Doesn''t matter to me.

Pacing.

It doesn''t matter if it is wrestling, an action movie, a weepy chick flick, TV show or even your good old fashioned high end porno... every well-crafted story needs good pacing.

Build up is very important in any form of entertainment, it is essential for your story''s climax to have it''s full potential. Read a book and I''m sure you''ll find a beginning, a middle, and an end. You never see a book that goes from the beginning straight to the end of the book.

Every good and great movie has build-up and good pacing leading to it''s climax. If you rush the climax of the story, it seems contrived, uneventful. It doesn''t have the same pow, the same wham bam thank you ma''am sizzle to it.

Every great wrestling storyline you have ever witness had excellent pacing. If you watch wrestling these days, you can see when they rush a product and it doesn''t have the same sizzle that it should have when it comes down to the money match, the climax [I''m focusing in on that word]

Wrassle is no different. All the great feuds and stories that have been told in this game have been paced across a good long distance. Some feuds last over a half a year, even a year. It doesn''t mean that is the end all, say all of what you have to do during that time but you could do so much with a angle or feud by being willingly to put it on a back burner for a bit.

And this includes "money matches". High concept matches or very gimmicky matches lose their appeal, their luster if they are overused. Once again, you want to build up to it.

In closing...in everything, it''s that end result...that climax...that closing chapter that you end up remember and looking back on. But often, it''s the trip there that enhances the way that climax occurred.

Those were my twenty-two cents.
