Bio: For Mexico, the De Hoyas were a household name. For the De Hoyas family, wrestling was a household way of life. With such wrestling greats as, "La Primer Sombra" and his son "Rey Aetees I", being a De Hoyas simply meant, some of the greatest competitors the world over. The Family owned "Dehoyas School of Lucha Libre" trained some of the greatest competitors in the world and with the birth of Alejandro and his younger brother Julio, training quickly began to make these two brothers into a formable wrestling machine.
Trainers were called from all corners of the wrestling globe to teach the techniques of Canadian Submission, Japanese quick striking, and The countering ability of the Mexican Lucha Libre to the young De Hoyas brother's in hopes of breaching the International wrestling barriers. Alejandro, three years older than Julio, started his professional wrestling debut at the rightful age of fifteen. Under the wrestling name of his father, "Rey Aetees II" he quickly rose to stardom becoming the youngest LLWA Heavyweight Champion. Julio joined the second he turned thirteen under his adopted name "La Sombra". La Sombra quickly surpassed his brother in singles competition and, with the help of fellow "Un Loco" stable-mate La Muerte, the Tag Team Division.
With wrestling in Mexico being hailed in line with the same vigor as religion, Julio and Alejandro were hailed as gods by their countrymen. Yet, critics quickly began to ask "Who was better" and suddenly a main event was signed for the two De Hoyas brothers in Mexico City, Mexico. With the prize being the coveted World Heavy Weight Championship, both brothers had put up their undefeated records in hopes of a claim at being the greatest ever.
La Sombra emerged the victor, but at an atrocious cost. He had mistakenly broken his brother's neck using the Diablo Driver; a move that he had never been taught nor remembered using. Alejandro De Hoyas died of his wounds, placing a dark shadow over the fourteen year old superstar in La Sombra. The LLWA, in cohesion with the MWA, quickly banned the maneuver and young Julio from ever wrestling in Mexico again. Julio was destroyed under the weight of a burden that he had placed on the family.
Carlos Dehoyas Jr. (Rey Aetees I) took his mentally tattered son to the United States, away from the malicious eyes of Mexico and away from the bone crushing weight of disgrace, in hopes of helping to heal his son. Soon after, the De Hoyas School of Lucha Libre Wrestling went bankrupt and closed, the De Hoyas name, and the greatest wrestler to be born on Mexican soil, began to fade away into myth.
It's 2009 now and Julio once again emerges from the dust making his way to TWG. Where has he been, what has he been doing, Does he still consider himself one of the most dangerous men in the ring? And what of this sacred move the Diablo Driver?
From the ashes of history long forgotten, "his story" begins anew!
Quote:"Getting beat by La Sombra doesn't make you a bad person, a fouled athlete, or even a lack luster superstar! It just gives you something in common with... EVERYBODY ELSE!"
-Brack Conway (La Sombra's Manager)
Gimmick: With new found, over-the-hill, loud-mouthed manager, Brack Conway at his side La Sombra entered TWG in hopes of wrestling the best the world had to offer. His hope; merely reclaiming the disgrace he suffered in Mexico and finding a way back into the hearts of his homeland people.
After going a season undefeated and capturing the Television Title he found his match in friend, Thomas Krown. His manager's loud mouthed antics cornered "The Man Without Fear" into a match for his mask. When La Sombra once again lost his bearing, preparing to end Krown's career with the Diablo Driver, he stopped himself! But, the momentary lapse in judgement cost him the match... and his mask.
He left to lick his wounds and found TBW, a place where he could focus on training and honing a new style that would hopefully help him get control of his inner demons. He hopes to face Krown again one day to rise from his defeat and reclaim his mask.
